What is it?

This course is designed for preschool teachers with little to no music pedagogical experience, but who are keen to upgrade their knowledge and skills in designing quality music lessons for kids.

What can teachers expect from it?

Learners will be able to identify and gather information about a child’s development needs and will be able to apply child development theories to the planning and design of, music lessons for kids.

Learners will be able to apply basic music theories to the planning and design of musical activities and lessons for kids. Learn about song repertoire, percussion ensembles, and conducting techniques.

Learners will be able to plan and design a supportive environment that facilitates learning through music, play, and interaction to create a nurturing space that allows children to explore, be creative, and expressive through music.

Learners will be able to observe and evaluate a child’s progress in learning and development . Learners will be able to manage the resources and materials needed to implement age-appropriate musical activities and music lessons for kids.

How are teachers assessed?

There are two kinds of assessments for teachers – formative assessments and summative assessments.

As part of the formative assessment, the trainer will ask a series of questions during the training sessions as well as conduct learning activities at the end of every chapter to assess the teacher’s understanding. Small group presentations, case studies, and role plays are also included under formative assessment.

As for summative assessments, practical assignments are given to assess the understanding and application skills of the teacher. The teacher will also be assessed based on their planning of music activities that aids in the development of the children, as well as how well they apply teaching strategies for a lesson.
